The Extra life gaming marathon I hosted over the weekend as a great success, major thanks to all who participated and those who sponsored us during this weekend.
We raised over $693 last week up to the event close, donations still can be taken so if you want you can still give to children’s hospital.
After a deserving sleep, I can now write about what happened. We began the day at 8am searching for the security to let us into the building, I discovered after then, that my student card still works and I can let myself in. Although it was good to let security know we were in the building and preparing for an all nighter.
We had 4 Xbox consoles, 1 Gamecube, 1 Nintendo Wii a collection of handheld Gameboys and a variety of board games to play. Mario kart double dash was probably the most competitive during the whole event with 4 people always racing making sure Eoin wouldn’t win at all times.
Monopoly cards was also a very competitive element to the whole event, within one game each new player had learned the rules and began to develop their own strategies to win. Soon enough the atmosphere in the room blossomed into a tense box containing double crossing, manipulative jerks playing to win with nothing to lose.
Unlike other Extra Life events, we didn’t focus on one game to complete, we did complete Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction however we allowed everyone to dip in and out of their favourite games with an open mind to join anyone else’. Find an almost complete list of all games played during the event below the Gallery.
